Course short description

The course is designed with the assumption that at the initial stage we have deployed a Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure with unified workstations (workplace innovation WPI) on the Windows platform, administered using GPO. The next stage is the deployment or migration of services such as files, mail and Internet access to Linux platforms, using Samba, Postfix/Dovecot/Roundcube and Squid solutions. Next, we integrate Linux workstations into the domain, managing them using GitLab/Ansible. The third stage is the migration of the Microsoft domain controller to Samba4, preserving all users and group policies, and then disabling the Microsoft controller. This allows you to gradually replace the remaining Windows workstations with Linux and completely abandon the use of Microsoft products.

The option of creating an enterprise infrastructure from scratch using MIT Kerberos and OpenLDAP as an alternative to the proprietary FreeIPA is also considered.

Additional course materials explain how to set up single sign-on and pass-through authentication (single sign-on) for GitLab, MinIO and BigBlueButton web applications using Keycloak and the OpenID protocol. This will provide an opportunity to abandon similar solutions from Google and Microsoft.

All of the above is presented in the form of practical lab work that can be reproduced in a real enterprise network.

You will learn

  • Understand the structure and operation of boxed solutions, such as Microsoft Active Directory, and learn about the importance of integrating Linux systems into them.
  • Use PAM and NSS libraries for user authentication in Linux systems.
  • Use the LDAP protocol to store user data in a corporate network.
  • Develop your own analog of FreeIPA for managing user identities in mixed Linux/Windows networks.
  • Integrate Microsoft Active Directory with Linux stations and servers.
  • Configure Samba servers for use as file servers and domain controllers.

Specialists with such knowledge and skills are in high demand today.

Training that meets international standards gives our graduates the opportunity to work in leading companies in Russia and abroad, build a successful career and earn the respect of employers.
