Course short description
This course will help everyone who creates games to get to know their users more deeply, understand their behavior in more detail and make the game more interesting - and therefore more successful.
Today it is important to understand the audience of your product as early as possible, to have in hand its psychological portrait, which makes it possible to more clearly navigate the field of its preferences. Knowledge of player psychology directly correlates with game design, with the effective development of a monetization strategy, with the preparation and launch of targeted marketing campaigns.
The “Psychology in Game Development” course consists of three modules.
The first module will introduce you to the phenomenon of play in myths and world culture. You will learn how different psychological theories interpret the concept of game and how a well-used archetypal pattern helps create successful games today.
In the second module, the author addresses video games in particular. You will be immersed in lectures about the features of gaming reality, learn about how neurotransmitters work and why a game developer needs to know about them. The author of the course will talk about what research exists today on the psychotypes of players, how game design considers the emotions and instincts of the player, how psychology is used today in games and the digital sphere.
The third module is devoted to marketing and the future of game psychology. You will learn about neuromarketing, the Big Five model, how the psychology of influence is used in game marketing.
This course will be useful for those who are engaged or planning to develop and publish games, marketers, narrative designers, community managers , game designers, content managers, HR managers, sociologists, psychologists and everyone who creates content for the gaming and entertainment industries.
